Key Problems Upon Site Visit
- Modernization of old processes to become more efficient in daily operations, changing everyday to fit new markets. There is new POS systems are nice, but there is some outdated equipment. But a-lot of the older things are said to add to the charm, or even "cook better than newer ovens" as Michele stated.
- Besides POS system implementation and digital organization, they need to revitalize storage usage and file organization. There is a lot of the information about menus and customer's names and phone numbers is stored well. But there is a lack of efficiency in storing mail, and other physical pieces of paper work.
- Employee training needs to be readjusted. Employees are taught bluntly how to cover certain areas, maybe more in depth training.
Suggestions For Problems
- Implement new training for employees. Only some employees able to multi task and more need to be able to shift places. More in depth training methods. Give more hands on experiance to the employee during training instead of being a total over watch hands on manager.
- Incorporating a "shadow" system where a new employees shadows a current employee and learns how to properly process orders, and deal with customers and certain situations. This is already done by like stated before there might be too much comfort given to employees not allowing them to give a 100% effort for their own work in training.
- Find more efficient ways to organize inventory and avoid needless waste. Possibly creating an excel sheet that knows when your product came in, when it is no longer any good, when you should restock and when the order should arrive so that you are not left without a certain supply.
- New computer system needed separate from POS for less clutter of information. Maybe go electronic with some billing to avoid having loads of mail and papers in the back office. Often leading to losing important bills that could lead to potential problems later on.
- "Promoting from within" having an outline or a module on how you can move up to the next position and information on what you must complete in regards to necessary time, skills and setting different accolades for employees to always want to find new ways to do things and always looking at ways to getting promoted.
- Bring in a few more employees for Friday and Saturday nights. There is already extra employees called upon on these days. But brining in more might help eliminate some of the wait times as the businesses are growing always. Originally used to staff only six to twelve servers, now should grow that number to something like 15 on that night. Might cut into profits initially but might bring in more with higher table turnover.
